AVG false positive

DVD Chief news and announces

Re: JUST CURIOUS

Postby FreewareHome » Tue Apr 03, 2026 8:22 pm

FreewareHome considers this file clean & harmless & I have posted this on our forum here http://freewarehome.com/bx/index.php?action=vthread&forum=6&topic=11573.

DVDChief would seem to trigger warnings from some user anti virus installations. Softpedia scans it clean, VirusTotal scanned it clean at least twice so these are false positive alerts. ANY program that includes a feature that connects to the Internet is capable of triggering a false positive report. Check EXACTLY what the report says & Google the "name" of the "threat". Usually you will find it is a generic not a specific name.

This from the DVDChief EULA might be a possible reason for the false positive:
DVD Chief uses MediaInfo DLL, covered by LGPL license. You can find its source code at http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net

Here's the links to the reports:

Hope this helps
